| VS-35 was officially commissioned on 01 January, 1961 and had been part of VS-37 |
VS-35, still assigned to NAS Los Alamimtos, trained on S2F-1s until June of 1961 when they recieved their first S2F-3 and moved from NAS Los Alamitos to NAS North Island. The fledgling Squadrion made it's first deployment the following year aboard the USS Hornet, CVS 12. Click here for more detailed history.

| VS-35 accumulated 12 years of accident free service, logging some 74,000 flight hours and 17,139 carrier landings before being disestablished in June 1973.

| VS-35 was temporarily re-established in October 1976 but due to budget constraints, was disestablished again in March 1977. Ten years passed before VS-35 was once again temporarily
re-established in March 1987. In May 1988 the Sqaudron was once again disestablished due to budget constraints. The rebirth of VS-35 Officially began on 03 October, 1990 but actual operations did not
begin until May 1991.The Squadron is scheduled to be disestablished in March 2005.
